Several hundred RTC employees and workers attended the meeting. The NMU was formed in 1967 and celebrating the Golden jubilee of its formation. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said RTC was facing burden of losses to the tune of Rs 2,500 crore and it can be reduced if the employees increase its revenue by increasing OR, adopting modern technology and maintaining punctuality.

He said the government would increase the age retirement age limit of RTC employees from 58 years to 60 years and would construct houses for the staff, if the RTC provides land. He said every employee has a dream of his own house and the government would help the RTC staff to get homes, if suitable land is shown.

‘I am proud of seeing a large number of women employees in the meeting,” he said adding that 6,000 women conductors are working in the APSRTC.

Transport Minister K Achannaidu congratulated the union leaders and members. He said the TDP was committed to the development of RTC and welfare of the Staff.

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas and officials from Transport and other departments, NMU state president Challa Chandraiah, General Secretary Y Srinivasa Rao, working president P Ramana Reddy and others attended the meeting.
