The city police arrested two bike lifters at Tangellamudi area within Eluru limits in the early hours of Friday. Addressing the media at Two Town police station here on Friday, Eluru DSP K Eshwara Rao said that there were several complaints regarding motorbike thefts registered in various police stations. He said that police launched a man-hunt to nab the motorbike lifters.
Eluru: The city police arrested two bike lifters at Tangellamudi area within Eluru limits in the early hours of Friday. Addressing the media at Two Town police station here on Friday, Eluru DSP K Eshwara Rao said that there were several complaints regarding motorbike thefts registered in various police stations. He said that police launched a man-hunt to nab the motorbike lifters.
Acting on a tip off, the Two-Town City police nabbed two persons Balasani Naveen (26) of Santhosh Nagar in the city and Pandiri Krishna (30) of Chintachettu Road at RR Pet of the city.
The DSP said that in a recent drive against drunken driving, the police stopped a lorry in which many motorbikes were being carried. While checking, they found that the motorbikes had no RC books or other valid documents. On interrogation, the lorry driver told them that he purchased the motorbikes from one Balasani Naveen.
The police immediately searched for Naveen and took him into custody. During interrogation, Naveen confessed that he took the motorbikes from Pandiri Krishna, the second accused and started selling those vehicles. On this confession, the police started an investigation and around him at Tangellamudi area this morning and police immediately took him into their custody.
Police seized 10 motorbikes from the accused which were stolen from Eluru One Town and Two Town areas. The DSP congratulated the team led by ASI Maqbool, constables Mahesh, Sitadevaiah. The DSP warned that anyone found involved in theft cases, rowdy sheets would be opened against them. Two Town CI G Madhubabu and others were present.
