Itukapalle (Anantapur): Activists of the YSRCP Student Wing organised a road blockade near Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) on Friday, by cooking food on the road and organising community lunch in protest against the state and central governments.
They decried the Modi government for denying Special Category Status (SCS) to AP and doing gross injustice to the state in the Union Budget. Addressing the students, MLC V Gopala Reddy alleged that the central government for doing grave injustice to an already beleaguered state, which was a victim of irrational and unjust bifurcation by not announcing any sops to the state in the budget.
It even failed to honour commitments given under the AP Reorganisation Act. Raptadu and Anantapur party coordinator Topudurthi Prakash Reddy accused the central and state governments of pushing the state into an abyss by neither granting SCS nor implementing special package in toto.
He stated that special status is the only panacea for all the ills afflicting the state. YSRCP leaders and city president Somasekhar Reddy, ex-mayor Rage Parasuram and Chevva Rajasekhara Reddy were present. The YSRCP will organise a novel protest tomorrow by begging for alms demanding SCS to the state.
