Data theft issue creation of Jagan, TS govt to divert attention: Sivaji

Vijayawada: Actor Sivaji dismissed the data theft allegations describing them as attention diversion tactics indulged in by the BJP-led Central government in collusion with YSRCP and Telangana government. The Telangana government, which is playing to the tunes of the Centre, had in fact indulged in data theft in 2015 in collusion with the Election Commission, he said.
Addressing the media at the Press Club here on Friday, Sivaji said that now nobody was discussing about the truncated railway zone or special category status and everyone is talking about data theft though in fact nobody knows what the meaning of it is.
Producing certain documents supporting his argument, Sivaji narrated how the Telangana government indulged in real data theft in collusion with the Election Commission to delete the names of voters in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Nizamabad district.
He recalled the unconditional apology tendered by the Telangana State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar over the deletion of the voters’ names from the list.
Sivaji said that the Telangana government through its IT department launched the portal State Resident Data Hub (SRDH) for collecting demographic data. By collating the data of the Election Commission and the data of the Telangana government’s SRDH, the voters’ names were deleted, he alleged. In fact, it was the Telangana government which stole the data of people and deleted the names of voters from the list, he said.
Sivaji stated that the linking of EPIC with Aadhaar was stopped after the Supreme Court held that Aadhaar is invading into the privacy of people and in case of the government beneficiaries only that could be used. “Otherwise, the result would have been disastrous,” he added.
After the 2015 data theft came to light through national media, the high drama of data theft by the Andhra Pradesh government was started to divert the attention of people, he said. "Bringing IT Grids into focus is the high drama enacted by the TS government. But it ruined the Hyderabad brand image irreparably," he said.
Ruling out the role of the Andhra Pradesh government in data theft case, Sivaji stated that in fact it was the Telangana government which stole the information of people and passed on to the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sivaji alleged that BJP already harnessed in 2018 the details of 22 crore beneficiary families with intention of deleting the voter names if any one of them found against them.
He alleged that TRS wants to install Jagan in Andhra Pradesh as KCR wants to construct a port of his own in controversial VANPIC lands, keep Rayalaseema as perennially drought-affected region and create disparity between the regions of the state so that it will remain backward forever.
The problem with Jagan, he said, is that his only ambition is to become Chief Minister and for that he was even prepared to sacrifice the future of Andhra Pradesh.
