Amaravati: For the first time in the country, the TDP is bringing out a youth manifesto with specific measures focusing on employment, entrepreneurship and related issues.

Party manifesto committee headed by finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, which met at the Chief Minister’s residence at Undavalli on Friday, discussed some innovative ideas for consideration in preparation of manifesto for the ensuing general elections.

The members of the committee discussed various policies to be introduced for youth like youth corporation, loans to youth through banks, subsidies for their industries, establishment dairy units, fodder and feed production, cold storages and many other asset creation and entrepreneurship-oriented issues for about two-and-a-half hours, according to sources.

The party is said to be promising a Youth Manifesto exclusively to promote entrepreneurship as there are many hurdles in ensuring loans to them through banks in the current scenario.

This corporation is proposed to promote young entrepreneurs from all sections of society, with no reference to caste or any other marker. Regarding agriculture sector, the manifesto aims to increase storage facility by encouraging construction of godowns, particularly the cold storage units in both rural and urban areas.

Encouraging cold storages and godowns through small scale industries sector is expected to provide more jobs to semi-skilled and unskilled youth in their respective areas.

The state government also found that there is a huge potential that needs to be tapped in this sector. The state government has been establishing mandal-specific small-scale economic zones to attract rural youth and self-help group members in small businesses.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, while addressing a gathering at his residence on the occasion of World Women’s Day celebrations announced that he will encourage the SHG members in establishing their enterprises and assured that he will provide necessary trunk infrastructure, create potential market for finished goods and services at these mandal level economic zones.

On the other hand, focusing on the rural unemployed youth, who are engaged in agriculture and allied sectors, the TDP is going to make a special promise for dairy related policies. It mainly will concentrate on establishing feed production units across the state.

The state government has already prepared a ground for skill upgradation through various ongoing programmes and has been providing unemployment allowance to all the eligible youth. It has a bigger task of providing employment to the youth, who completed at least graduation.

Through a survey, the TDP leaders have realized that most of the youth who have been getting benefits under Mukyamantri Yuva Nestam (unemployment dole) are reluctant to migrate from their native place to other areas.

In the wake of this, the TDP has decided to encourage local talent by creating opportunities at their areas. For this, industries which can survive on local human resources and raw material will be encouraged.

Other issues that can find place in the youth manifest will be setting up of cultural centres to encourage youth-oriented activities and payment of stipend for postgraduate students of medicine.
