Visakhapatnam: Confederation of Indian Industry on Saturday organised Andhra Pradesh Economic Conclave focusing on theme “Unlocking Economic Potential of Andhra Pradesh” in the city.

Speaking at the conclave Rear Admiral Kiran Deshmukh, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard, stressed on the importance of indigenisation creating a shared ecosystem.

He made a point that the skill set needs to be enhanced and made to meet the global standards. He urged MSMEs to focus on long-term sustainability rather than short-term gain.

J Krishna Kishore, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, mentioned that the state was emerging as a major electronics manufacturing hub and automobile hub and the work was in progress to make Visakhapatnam as the Maritime Capital of India.

“There is a significant growth in the industrial development and per capita income which would lead to the overall development,” he informed.

Dr Jitendar Sharma, MD and CEO, Andhra Pradesh Med Tech Zone, urged to look at multi sector technologies and need a platform infrastructure to fulfill.

He suggested that for economic development to be fast paced, there must be a more favourable policies. Specific tariff revision was the need of the hour to drive growth, he mentioned.

Rear Admiral (retired) and Managing Director and CEO, Centre of Excellence in Maritime and Shipbuilding Shekahr Mital made a presentation on various opportunities available for MSMEs both at national and state level.

Rvs Rudraraju, Director, RHI Clasil presided over the conclave. Later in the annual meeting, Vijay Naidu Galla, President-Group CI, Quality and HSE, Mangal Industries, An Amara Raja Group Company has elected as chairman of CII Andhra Pradesh for the year 2019-20.

D Rama Krishna, Managing Director, Efftronics Systems elected as Vice Chairman for CII Andhra Pradesh.
