'Papa, I got my girlfriend pregnant': Viral prank gone wrong

A Delhi student’s sense of humor has gone viral after his prank woke up the martial arts expert in his father and got him a real trashing for “getting his girl friend pregnant”.

The incident was filmed by Prateek Verma, a 20-year-old engineering student, and has been uploaded onto YouTube by SocialCatastropheTV. It has got 967,000 views so far, and it continues to increase rapidly.

Prateek calls his father into a room; saying he needs to tell him something but asking him not to “freak out”. After asking his father to close the door so that his mother doesn't hear and adding to the act by hesitantly asking him not to beat him up, he “reveals” that he has got his girlfriend pregnant.

This turns his father livid, who, after a moment of silence, kicks his son, and then begins delivering a series of punches and kicks, pushing him into a corner of the room. When the father picks up a plastic water bottle and threatens to hit his son with it, Prateek reveals that it’s a prank pointing out the video camera.

The video has gone viral, getting it featured on Daily Mail, Times of India, and Live Leak. It has also prompted debates in the comments over the presence of physical abuse in parent-child relationships in the Indian culture.
