On May 1st, a housewife had her husband killed by her brother, after paying him Rs. 5,000 to do the job. Reportedly, she did so because she was unable to put up with the daily harassment from her alcoholic husband. The incident came to light on Sunday when the victim’s family lodged a complaint with the police.

The victim has been identified as M Satyanarayana, who was a construction worker from Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Shapur Nagar of Dundigal. His wife, Vijayalakshmi, hails from his native place, Gandrapally village in Medak village. They got married a year ago.

On April 28th, the couple journeyed to their native place to cast their vote in the general elections. They returned to Shapur Nagar at night, on April 30th. The victim’s family said that after returning to the city, his mobile phone was switched off.

When Satyanarayana’s brother, Ashok, asked Vijayalakshmi about his brother’s whereabouts on May 1st, she said that five persons had taken her husband saying that they needed to discuss some loan matter.

After Satyanaryana remained unreachable for a few more days, his family called for Vijayalakshmi to Gandrapally on May 9th. On confrontation with her in-laws, Vijayalakshmi revealed that with the support of her brother, Ramu, she had made a plan to kill her husband. The family took her to the Dundugal police station on May 10th.

Following the details of her confession, the police retrieved the decomposed body from an isolated place in Bahadurpally. Vijayalakshmi revealed her brother assisted her with the help of four other friends after she paid them Rs. 5000. They killed him by throwing boulders at his head.

The police took Vijayalakshmi under their custody and produced her in court on Monday. A man-hunt has been launched to catch the five other offenders.
