Highest Ever Women In Lok Sabha At 61. The 16th Lok Sabha will have the highest number of women members in the history of the Indian Government, at a total of 61.

The 16th Lok Sabha will have the highest number of women members in the history of the Indian Government, at a total of 61.

Though considered a big step for the Indian government, it is still nowhere near the 33% mark that the Women’s Reservation Bill aimed to attain, and also is marginal improvement from 58, which was the number of women elected to the outgoing Lok Sabha.

Some of the prominent women winners are Congress president Sonia Gandhi from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, Leader of Opposition in the outgoing Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh and actor Kirron Kher from Chandigarh.

West Bengal has elected the most women to the Lok Sabha at 13.
