Hyderabad: Taking serious note of sudden spurt in the prices of pulses again in the State, Finance and Civil Supplies Minister E Rajendar on Tuesday warned stern action against dal millers if they had created artificial scarcity through hoarding.

He asked the millers to supply pulses at reasonable prices to retailers as the government already made arrangements to supply at subsidized prices to the poor through fair price shops and at special outlets in Rythu Bazaars.

Reviewing availability of pulses and its prices in the open market with the officials here, the Minister said several complains had been received that the millers were diverting pulses allotted under PDS scheme to black market and recycling the stocks before selling them at higher prices.

Rajendar said action would also be taken against millers if they supplied substandard pulses in the place of local variety used mostly by the people in the State.
