Karimnagar: Officer on Special Duty (OSD) L Subba Raidu on Wednesday gave counselling to the family members of Nerella Jyothi, Maoist district committee member of north Basthar region of Chhattisgarh.

Jyothi, native of Shivanagulapalli of Konaraopeta mandal, joined the extremists in 2003 while studying intermediate in Sircilla. She has been leading underground life since 13 years. She was facing severe health problems.

Her father Narsaiah, mother Bhudhavva and brother Sudhakar met the OSD on Wednesday. On the occasion, they appealed their daughter to give up arms and join mainstream since she has achieved nothing by leading underground life.

Asking the Maoist leader to surrender before the police, OSD advised her to avail government’s rehabilitation benefits. Subba Raidu presented new cloths to Jyothi’s parents on the occasion.
