Warangal: Regional Provident Fund Commissioner M H Warsi asked the managements of all construction companies in Warangal and Khammam districts to provide Employee Provident Fund (EPF) facility and Universal Account Number (UAN) to their employees. The Central government has decided to extend the benefits of EPF to construction workers and hence the managements have to make necessary arrangements in that connection, he said.

Registering the companies and remitting the EPF amount has to be done through online mode alone. From this January 1, the manual processing was stopped. The employers could obtain digital certificates after they register through Online Registration of Establishment (OLRE).

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Warsi said it is made mandatory to make remittances and returns through Electronic Challan-cum-Returns (ECR) portal. Further all the employers falling under EPF and MP Act 1952 should remit the PF amount by 15th of every month through internet banking. The grace period of five days offered in the past is now terminated, he added.

The Commissioner urged all the PF subscribers to obtain Universal Account Number (UAN). It allows the employees to manage their PF accounts easily. If they get transferred they could pool up their accounts and check balance in their account. The employers should ensure to provide UAN to their employees, he said.

The subscribers could check their PF balance through SMS service using their registered mobile numbers. One could check their account balance even by giving missed call to 01122901406. Smartphone users could download the EPFO mobile app which is available in ten Indian languages, the official said. He informed that the members could submit their nominations through online system.

For queries or complaints they could contact the sub-regional office in Warangal at landline phone number: 0870-2447772 or [email protected]. Assistant Commissioner A Laxminarayana, Enforcement Officer O Prabhakar, accounts officers Narayana Murthy and Ravi Kumar, PRO Samuel J Kumar and others were present.
