Nalgonda: As part of Chalo Delhi protest call given by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the doctors staged a demonstration parallel to the Delhi protest by closing all out-patient departments in all private hospitals and clinics from 8 am to 2 pm except emergency cases in Nalgonda on Tuesday.
The members of IMA took out a vehicle rally carrying placards from IMA Building to Collectorate, via Clock Tower, Prakasam Bazaar and MLG Road. Ambulances also joined their rally.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to Collector Gaurav Uppal. In the memorandum they demanded urgent amendment to PCPMDT Act to remove punishment for clerical and other minor issues apart from non-implementation of the Act for non gynecology scans, not to bring single doctors clinics under Clinical Establishment Act, non-allopathic doctors should not be allowed to prescribe allopathic drugs, no exit (NEXT) exam for MBBS passed candidates and stringent central Act against violence on doctors.
The Collector, meanwhile, assured them to forward their demands to the government. Interacting with doctors, Uppal suggested employing security guards in all hospitals. However, the doctors opined that a mob could not be controlled by one or two guards and stated that district police were doing their best in tackling violence in hospitals and on doctors in Nalgonda.
Speaking to media, Dr JP Reddy said everyone blames doctors for any complication or death without looking into the factors leading to the death, resulting in straining the relationship between doctor and the patient.
Dr Vasantha Kumari, Dr Sucharitha, Dr Gourisri, Dr Anita Rani, Dr Rajeshwari, Dr Leelavathy, Dr Jaiprakash Reddy, Dr Pulla Rao Dr Vijayakumar, Dr Daivadheenam, Dr Srinivas and other staff of hospitals took part in the rally.
