Mallapur: The residents of Mallapur can now heave a sigh of relief as the area is all set to get a makeover soon. The roads and drainage systems has been a huge issue in this in Mallapur and works to counter this have already commenced and the it is likely to get completed in the first half of 2018.

In five to six areas, we have laid down new water pipelines in parallel to nala works. The GHMC has sanctioned Rs 20 crore for pursuing this project. Pipeline correction works will be completed in 3 to 4 months

Devender Reddy, Corporator of Mallapur said, "There are 40 colonies here and we have identified all the areas having major nala problems and have started working on it. A week back we successfully completed directing the nala water underground on the main road of Shiva Hotel. The entire cost of the work was Rs 19.5 lakh."

He further added, "We plan to complete the works of nala within six months, GHMC unit has already cleared Rs 2 crore for this. Our ward members continuously visit the areas and report the problems."

When asked about plans post repairing of nalas, Devender said, "In five to six areas, we have also laid down new water pipelines in parallel to nala works, altogether the GHMC has sanctioned Rs 20 crore for pursuing this project. Pipeline correction works will be completed in 3 to 4 months."

"Apart from this, we have also put up a proposal, for the construction of indoor stadium, which would be a recreational place for both elders and youngsters. The proposal is yet to be cleared and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 3 to 4 crore. We are also planning to construct 66 feet internal roads, for this also we have submitted a proposal," Devender informed.


"We have also started the renovation work of the crematorium which is located below the NFC company bridge. We are planning to modernise the washrooms here. We have received an amount of Rs 84 lakh for this."
