Addressing the students and staff, OSD Venkateshwarlu said ragging was foreign culture and it’s not good to harass juniors in the name of ragging.

Nalgonda: District ASP and OSD Venkateshwarlu stated that harassing students in the name of ragging was an offence and punishable. In an effort to put an end to ragging and eve-teasing, district police on Thursday conducted an awareness programme at Government polytechnic in Nalgonda.

Addressing the students and staff, OSD Venkateshwarlu said ragging was foreign culture and it’s not good to harass juniors in the name of ragging.

If any body caught evidentially while ragging others they would be punished severely under AP Prohibition of Ragging Act -1997 and they would not get any government jobs in future. He advised students to intimate them by dialing 100 if they come across such cases.

“SHE teams are working round-the-clock to protect girls and women from eve teasers and anti-social elements,” he added. Women PS CI Anuradha, SI Ajay Kumar, College Principal, students in large numbers participated in the programme.
