NEW DELHI : The air of Delhi has been “too bad to breathe” for the people residing. As the air quality remained drastic for another whole day. On Thursday with PM10 levels hovering around seven times the secure standard and 'hazy’ conditions across the capital.

At 3pm on Thursday, as 39 hours passed since the PM10 levels exceeded the “emergency”, or “severe plus”, limit under the given Graded Response Action plan of 500 micrograms per cubic metre as it fluttered close to 800 micrograms, forcing the governor to take certain action of safety measures and precautions after an emergency meeting. The measures included to stop all civil construction activity in the state from 15 June 2018 to 17 of June 2018.

The emergency meeting was led by the LG and other agencies like the PWD, DMRC, DPCC, forest department, and EPCA. Along with Imran Hussain the Environment minister. Raj Niwas gave a statement saying,”We are stopping all civil engineering construction activity in Delhi from 15 to 17 June 2018. Municipal corporations, DPCC and all construction agencies will enforce this. In addition, agencies engaged in construction activities like DMRC, NBCC, NHAI, MCDS and others shall strictly enforce dust control measures at their respective construction sites as well.”

EPCA member and centre for science and environment director general Sunita Narain said the dust storm was already showing signs of departure from Delhi but long term planning was required to overcome dust pollution. Delhi’s overall AQI was noted to be as “severe” on Thursday with an AQI of 431, a slight change in the reading of 445 as on Wednesday.

The Met department said Thursday's improvement can be symbolised to an increase in moisture from 43% to 52% and a marginal decrease in the maximum temperature which fell from 41.2 degrees on Wednesday to 40.4 degrees.
