Taekwondo expert from Hyderabad, Bonmon Rakesh, recently achieved his dream by setting a Guinness World Record for nonstop Taekwondo Poomse 1 and 2, establishing him as one of the best in his field in the country.

The 27 year old holds many world records, including a record for holding three ice bars on his head while his master broke them with a hammer within 30 seconds, having 2 big granite stones broken on his chest with a hammer again, and having a Tindora cut into pieces on his tongue with a big sword – all displays of his expertise in martial arts.

Rakesh, who hails from a Telugu middle class family, holds a black belt in Taekwondo – a Korean martial art which combines combat and self-defense techniques with sport and exercise. Rakesh has been breaking many world records before achieving his dream with the Guinness World Records. He says that he also holds records for having 6 jeeps run over his bare arms, for putting 32 batteries in his hand within 32 seconds and for breaking ten pots with flying kicks within a minute.

“Taekwondo taught me respect, discipline, self defense and to increase my memory power,” he says, adding that he started Taekwondo in 2004, when he was 17 years old.

On the subject of his plans for the future he says, “I still want to enter other records in the Guinness World Records as well as other world records. But my final goal and dream is to play in the Olympics.” He adds that right now the Olympics are a distant dream because he doesn’t have any sponsors or any support from the Government. "I really need sponsors to move forward," he says.
