A total of 11 nominations were received by the district election authorities and some of the candidates have also filed for two sets.

Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidates Naradasu Laxman Rao and Thaniparthi Bhanu Prasad Rao were among those who filed nominations on Wednesday, the last day for the submission of papers.

Congress leaders Minupala Tirupathi Rao and Muddasani Rangaiah have filed two sets each, one as Congress party and another as Independent while Muthyala Priya Reddy and Sarilla Prasad filed their nominations as Independent candidates.

The supporters of Laxman Rao and Bhanuprasad Rao had earlier filed a set of nomination papers and the two leaders personally submitted their papers on the last day.

Along with Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, government Chief Whip Koppula Eashwar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma and Karimnagar Municipal Corporaton Mayor Ravinder Singh, they reached the Collectorate in a huge procession.

Speaking to reporters after submitting their nomination pa pers, Laxman Rao and Bhanuprasad Rao thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for giving an opportunity by reposing faith in them.
