Hyderabad: Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao on Monday dubbed the attack on Council Chairman K Swamy Goud by the Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as an attack on Parliament by the terrorists.
Addressing a press conference here at TRSLP office, along with Government Chief Whip in Council P Sudhakar Reddy, Whips B Venkateshwarlu and P Rajeshwar Reddy, MLA M Janardhan Reddy, Harish Rao said the act of the Congress legislator was condemnable.
“We condemn the attack targeted against Governor ESL Narasimhan and K Swamy Goud by Congress leaders. All the members were upset with the incident. This attack is not against Swamy Goud, but against the people and the democracy. And it is not injury to Swamy Goud, but to the democracy. Is this the 130-year-old history of Congress party?” questioned Harish, alleging that the Congress leaders behaved like street rowdies.
He further added that at a time when Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was striving for developing the State, the Congress leaders were tarnishing the State’s image with such repenting acts. “How the CLP leader can support the act of their party member,” he asked, adding that the government was ready to discuss all the issues, but the Congress was running away.
Harish said the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) has urged Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to take action against the members responsible after verifying the footage.
Accepting that the TRS had also created disruptions in the Assembly during the undivided Andhra Pradesh, Harish Rao said, “Our voices were suppressed in the ‘rule of outsiders’ during the Telangana agitation. The issues of Telangana never used to come for discussion. Our struggle was like that of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and the Congress party’s attack on Swamy Goud was like attack on Parliament by the terrorists.”
Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav alleged that the Congress party leaders came with a plan to attack the Governor. He said the attack on a leader from weaker sections was condemnable.
BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna alleged that the Congress members attempted to murder Swamy Goud. He questioned whether Congress leaders were not happy with a BC leader becoming Council Chairman. He said people would soon teach a lesson to the Congress party leaders.
