Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday where he submitted a series of requests. They held discussions on various farmers' welfare programmes such as Rythu Bandhu and proposed farmers insurance scheme while seeking the Centre’s support for providing Minimum Support Price for various crops. In the hour-long meeting, the Chief Minister took up the issue of pending funds with PM Modi as well as seek national status for Kaleshwaram project on the lines of Polavaram project taken up in Andhra Pradesh and honour the promises made to Telangana following the formation under AP Reorganisation Act.

This meeting is gaining significance as it is the first time KCR has met PM Modi after his announcement of Federal Front. Congress party meanwhile is claiming that BJP has joined hands with the TRS party. Speaking in this regard on Saturday, Senior party leader Shabbir Ali recalled as to how the Chief Minister is attending the NITI Aayog meet to be chaired by Modi, his support to demonetisation and Mission Bhagiratha which was initiated by the Congress which allocated 85 percent of water but KCR with PM Modi’s intervention diverted the flow of water to Gajwel constituency.

Congress Legislative Party deputy leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy questioned the TRS government as to why the state matters were being neglected and whether there was a hidden agenda in putting the political affairs above the state concerns. He pointed out that the Congress has been putting pressure on the TRS government for fulfilling the concerns but questioned as to why they have not been able to do so.

Meanwhile, TRS dismissed the allegations made by the Congress for making the meeting with the Prime Minister a political agenda.
