The high octane drama that was held since few days in Ramagundam City Municipal Corporation RMC on Thursday ended with winning of No Confidence Motion introduced by the ruling TRS and Opposition Congress and BJP corporators against Ramagundam Mayor Konkati Lakshminarayana and Deputy Mayor Saganti Shankar
Ramagundam: The high octane drama that was held since few days in Ramagundam City Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Thursday ended with winning of No Confidence Motion introduced by the ruling TRS and Opposition Congress and BJP corporators against Ramagundam Mayor Konkati Lakshminarayana and Deputy Mayor Saganti Shankar.
It is to be noted that all the 39 corporators out of the 52 in the RMC, including 28 belonging to the TRS and 10 of Congress along with one from BJP, had submitted a memorandum to District Collector A Devasena demanding taking up of no-confidence motion against the Mayor and Deputy Mayor as per GHMC Act-1955, Section-91.
Receiving the memorandum, Collector A Devasena ordered for general body meeting on Thursday (August 2) with corporators, who moved the no-confidence motion, appointing the Joint Collector as the Election officer.
Later, the Ramagundam MLA tried to pacify the corporators asking them to withdraw the motion. But, when he failed to convince the corporators to withdraw the no-confidence motion, he created sensation by announcing taking of political retirement. However, the party high command pacified the legislator and he shelved his proposal to take political retirement.
As part of that, a meeting was held here at RMC office under the leadership of Joint Collector Vanaja Devi on Thursday. About 37 out of the 39 corporators, who moved no-confidence motion, attended the meeting and gave their consent for no-confidence motion against the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
After taking their acceptance, the Joint Collector declared that the ruling TRS and Opposition Congress and BJP corporators had won the no-confidence motion introduced against Ramagundam Mayor Konkati Lakshminarayana and Deputy Mayor Saganti Shankar.
It should be mentioned here that the Congress issued a whip against the Congress corporators insisting them not to attend no-confidence motion. But Congress Corporators not bothering about the whip had attended the meeting and gave their acceptance.
