Vikarabad: District Collector Syed Omer Jaleel has said that the first-phase inspection of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would complete by February 20. The Collector said the EVMs of Tandur and Vikarabad, which were stored in agriculture market godown, would be inspected by the teams of Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) Company. Deputy elections officer and District Joint Collector Aruna Kumari were appointed as in-charges to the process.

The Collector said they would submit proposals for the new EVMs after receiving complaints, if any, on EVMs that were used in Kodangal and Parigi. The polling centers were increased from 1,096 to 1,126. He said a special drive would be conducted on Sunday and appealed to the people to make use of it to enroll their names in the voter list. Booth-level voter registration will be conducted till February 4, Jaleel said.

The Collector advised people to dial toll-free no. 1950 if their names are missing in the voter list. The call center would be operational from 9 am to 9 pm. He said the staff would respond quickly and action would be initiated against staff if they failed to respond to queries. Jaleel said they identified and removed bogus voters. They removed as many as 5,849 votes after verifying 59,000 votes. He said they would publish the final voter list on February 22.
