1893 units of sand available in West Godavari, says District Collector

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials to ensure hassle-free supply of sand under new sand policy announced by the government. He reviewed the sand stock position with officials of Mines Department and the RTA officials here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he informed that 1893 units of sand were available in the district. All arrangements have been made to supply sand from five stock yards set up in the district.

Vehicles have also been arranged for sand supply from Ballipadu, Somavarappadu, Kapavaram, Ilapakarru and Karugorumilli stock yards, he added. He said that about 200 vehicles were registered in the district. Tractors and tippers would also be put to use for sand supply, he added.

He ordered the officials to make foolproof arrangements for sand supply. A daily report should be submitted on quantity of sand available and supplied. The sand transportation process should be photographed and send to him, he directed. The Collector particularly asked the officials to verify whether the sand is being supplied to the places preferred by the people.

Joint Collector Venugopala Reddy, RTO Sridhar, Mines Department Additional Director Suryachandra Rao, Deputy Director YS Babu and others were present at the review meeting.
