311 paddy purchase centres opened in West Godavari dist: JC

Eluru: Joint Collector M Venugopal Reddy on Friday informed Civil Supplies Commissioner K Sasidhar that the district administration set up 311 centres to purchase paddy from farmers.

Attending a videoconference of the commissioner, the JC said that agriculture and horticulture department assistants were trained and posted at these paddy purchase centres.

The staff would bring to the notice of higher officials any problems relating to paddy purchase centres. The crop in an extent of 2.25 lakh hectares and farmers were registered, he said.

The Commissioner asked the Joint Collector to ensure toll-free control room at the Collectorate until the continuance of the paddy purchase centres to enable the farmers to report their problems in purchasing the paddy. Precautions should be taken to prevent purchase of paddy cultivated in other areas, he added.
