356 Telangana liquor bottles seized in Krishna district
Vijayawada: The Krishna district police seized 356 liquor bottles on Sunday during the search operations under the police station limits of Gampalagudem, Nandigama and Chillakallu and Jaggaiahpeta, bordering Telangana state on the national highway on Sunday.
Krishna District Superintendent of Police M Ravindranath Babu has appointed special teams to check smuggling of liquor into the district.
During the search operation near Chillakallu, the police noticed 207 liquor bottles being smuggled into AP from Telangana and the police arrested three persons and seized a vehicle. Special branch SI J V Ramana and others took part in the search operations.
In another incident, the police seized 84 liquor bottles near Jonnalagadda check post in Nandigama mandal. Two persons were smuggling the liquor bottles in a car and they were arrested. In another incident, the police seized 14 liquor bottles.
In the fourth case, the police seized 51 liquor bottles in Gampalagudem mandal and arrested four persons in connection with smuggling of liquor from Telangana.
As price of liquor is less in Telangana state compared to Andhra Pradesh, so many boozers are going to Telangana border areas and purchasing liquor and coming back to state.
They are choosing villages to cross border because police vigil is less in the rural areas.
