5K marathon witnesses impressive turnout in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: It was a celebration of sorts on the beach road as cops from various departments pulled up their socks to take part in the 5K run on Friday. Organised as a part of the on-going 'Police Commemoration Week', the celebrations saw the police playing an active role in the marathon.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Police R K Meena said the platform aims at showing their respects to more than 38,000 police who had laid down their lives while on duty. Further, the CP defined Visakhapatnam as one of the beautiful cities in the state.
After flagging off the marathon, the CP joined the run. He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police, Visakhapatnam Range, Attada Babujee and DCP (Zone II) B Uday Bhaskar, among others.
Visakhapatnam MP M V V Satyanarayana, VMRDA chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University P V G D Prasad Reddy participated in the celebrations that also included music and dance.
