All reservoirs should be filled soon: Jagan Mohan Reddy directs officials at a review meeting on irrigation department

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked the authorities about the status of irrigation projects in the state. He sought information from authorities on the capacity of the canals and the pending work. Officials have been instructed officials that all the projects to be filled within the next 40 days. It has been ordered to submit a full report with proposals. On Monday, the Chief Minister conducted a review on the irrigation department.

Officials briefed CM on the current state of reservoirs and water levels of reservoirs in Krishna, Godavari and Penna Basin. Officials report to CM on the areas, projects and district wise activities. Jagan had a lengthy discussion with officials on newly proposed projects including Polavaram, Veligonda and Vamsadhara which are already underway. It is suggested that this report should be divided into prioritized projects which are currently running and must be taken up.

The officials have been instructed to be very careful about the usage of funds. He said the funds should be spent in terms of priorities. It has been made clear that the results should be seen soon. Due to land and forest clearance issues, most of the Jalajyagnam works are pending. CM has advised the officials to go ahead with a strategy in this regard.
