All set for polling tomorrow

Anantapur: District Election Officer and Collector Veera Pandian has stated that all is set for the polling to be conducted on April 11, for the 2 MP and 14 MLA seats in the district. Addressing a press conference on poll arrangements on Tuesday, Pandian said that voters can cast their vote showing any of the 11 recognised identity cards like Aadhaar, PAN, driving license etc.

Polling starts from 7 am onwards. There are 32,39,517 voters in the district and 3,884 polling stations. All amenities have been created at the polling stations. More than 49,000 election staff are engaged in the election duty to ensure that the polls are held in a peaceful and hassle-free manner.

In Anantapur Lok Sabha constituency 14 candidates are in the fray while 9 are in the fray for Hindupur Parliamentary constituency. For the 14 Assembly segments, as many as 163 are in the fray. Recently, 25 bind-over cases had been filed on persons carrying illegal money and seized 192 vehicles. Similarly, Rs 3.62 crore cash had been seized as well as seizure of 1.51 lakh litres of liquor.

As many as 4,000 videographers and one each for every polling station has been appointed to film the entire polling process apart from 165 web casters. The Collector informed that April 11 has been declared public holiday.
