Anantapur: Florence Nightingale's services recalled

Anantapur: The 200th birth anniversary of British nurse Florence Nightingale was observed by the Indian Red Cross Society at the Government General Hospital as International Nurses Day here on Tuesday.

All the 225 nurses of the hospital attended the anniversary function. Nutritious food made up of dry fruits was presented to all the nurses in recognition of their fearless services to Covid-19 patients. Kapu Bharathi, chairperson of the district Red Cross lauded the services of nurses to the patients of Covid pandemic.

By doing so, they have all followed in the footsteps of the legendary Florence Nightingale. Reading out the brief history and experiences of Florence, she said that British government presented Nighthood upon Florence known as "The Lady With the Lamp" for her efforts to reform healthcare in 19 and 20 centuries.
