AP Formation Day: Sacrifices of Potti Sriramulu remembered
Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandiyan stated that that there is every need to remember the sacrifices of Potti Sriramulu, who had laid his life to achieve separate statehood to the people of Andhra, and by inspiring with his sacrifices, we all need to rededicate ourselves for the development of state.
The Collector accompanied by Rajya Sabha Member TG Venkatesh, MLAs Hafeez Khan and Katasani Rambhupal Reddy participated at the AP Formation Day celebrations organised at Sunaina Auditorium here on Friday. Five years after bifurcation of the state, AP Formation Day has been celebrated on a grand manner.
Veera Pandiyan, addressing the gathering, said that great personality Potti Sriramulu had sacrificed his life for the wellbeing of Telugu speaking people. ``Remembering his great deed, we all need to pledge that we rededicate for the development of state and district as well. Everyone should think about their coordination and cooperation for the development of Andhra Pradesh,'' he said.
He expressed happiness on the rangolis, traditional cooking, displaying of photo gallery by the information department, cultural programmes of children depicting Telugu tradition and the Koya (tribal) dance performed by the students of Mahanandi tribal school.
The Collector later felicitated G Subbamma, MC Venkanna, Jaipal Reddy the family members of freedom fighters. He also distributed prizes to the students who won in essay competitions. Earlier, the Collector and the leaders visited children park and garlanded the Potti Sriramulu statue in the park and Telugu Talli statue at Old Bus Stand.
Similarly the police department has also celebrated the AP formation day. Superintendent of Police Dr Fakkeerappa Kaginelli, Additional Superintendent of Police M Deepika Patil were also paid floral tributes to Telugu Talli statue at Old Bus Stand.
Project Director of DRDA Srinivasulu, DEO Sai Ram, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations (I&PR), Thimmappa, Project Director of ICDS, P Leelavathi, DWAMA Project Director, Venkata Subbaiah and others participated in the programme.
