Cab drivers can apply up to Oct 30 in Tirupati
Tirupati: The last date for enrolling in Vahana Mithra scheme is extended to October 30 by the State government as many cab drivers have not enrolled before the stipulated date of September 25.
Speaking at a function organised in Tirupati to launch the scheme, District Collector Dr Narayan Bharat Gupta has said that auto, taxi and maxi cab drivers should make use of the financial assistance of Rs.10,000 provided by the government.
So far, 12,236 drivers have applied for the scheme and 12,160 of them were found eligible to receive the assistance while there are about 56,000 vehicles in the said categories in the district.
Chittoor MP N Reddeppa stated that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised in May 2018 in Eluru to provide financial assistance to drivers and the promise was fulfilled. He advised the drivers to follow all rules imposed by transport and police departments.
Chittoor MLA A Sreenivasulu, Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam, MLC Y Sreenivasulu Reddy, Deputy Transport Commissioner Basireddy, Tirupati and Chittoor RTOs G Vivekananda Reddy, Venkatrami Reddy and others participated.
They have handed over the sanctioning letters to the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries including women drivers have expressed their happiness on getting the assistance and thanked the CM.
