Chief Minister intervention sought in groundnut seed supply
Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangam district secretary B Dastagiri Reddy made an appeal to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to take initiative for proper supply of groundnut seed in the current kharif season. Addressing the press conference here on Tuesday, the Rythu Sangam leader said farmers are growing groundnut in 75,000 acres across the district in kharif season.
Farmers began the agriculture operations for groundnut crop two weeks ago, he said and stated that there will be unrest among farming community if they fail to secure the seed in right time. Dastagiri Reddy mentioned that the district administration was able to supply only 15 quintals of seed against requirement of 30 quintals for the current kharif season.
He alleged local political leaders have shifted groundnut seed to black market in Ramapuram, Galiveedu and Lakkireddipalle mandals. Rythu Sangam leader K Nagi Reddy was also present.
