Civic chief inspects compost yard

Rajamahendravaram: Municipal Corporation additional commissioner NVV Satyanarayana Rao has directed the officials of sanitary wing to maintain compost yard properly. Due to high temperatures there is a possibility of break fire in the compost yard, he warned. After visiting the compost yard with the officials here on Sunday, he asked the compost yard staff to check the yard from time to time during this summer season to avoid any mishaps.

A fortnight ago fire broke out in the compost yard due to high temperature and it took a week time to control the flames. The compost yard staff should have necessary equipment to extinguish and control the fire, he added. As the compost yard is near to the residential areas utmost care should be taken, the additional commissioner said.
