Collector assures to address problems of Valmiki community in Kurnool

Kurnool: The birth anniversary of Valmiki Maharshi, the author of epic Ramayana, was celebrated on a grand note at Sunaina Auditorium here on Sunday. District Collector G Veera Pandiyan along with the Valmiki, Boya and BC organisations garlanded the statue of Adi Kavi Valmiki at Sri Krishna Devaraya Circle and took out a rally up to collectorate,

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Veera Pandiyan assured that he will strive to resolve the issues of Valmikis in the district. Expressing concern, the Collector said that the district is lagging behind in literacy rate. He made an appeal to the parents to educate their children.

Panyam MLA Katasani Ram Bhupal Reddy said Valmiki Maharshi is an inspiration to several of us. Through chanting the name of Lord Rama, Valmiki had become the Maharshi.

He said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has set up a corporation to every community and allocated funds. The former Chief Minister, YS Raja Sekhar Reddy used to celebrate Valmiki birth anniversary on a grand note, he recalled.

Joint Collector, Khaza Mohiuddin has said that it is very happy to celebrate the Jayanthi celebrations of Adi Kavi Valmiki Maharshi. The cultural programmes performed by the students enthralled the audience.

MLC BT Naidu, Subash Chandra Bose, Giddaiah, B Lakshmanna, Maddilety, Kubera Swamy, Jaganna, Boya Rama Krishna, Srinivasulu, Bala Sunkanna, Dr Mohan, Venkateshwarlu, Nageshwaramma, Nagamuni and others participated.
