Collector, MLA assure to improve amenities at Govt General Hospital

Anantapur: District Collector S Sathyanarayana and MLA Anantha Venkatarama Reddy have assured to improve amenities at Government General Hospital here. They participated in the Hospital Development Committee meeting.

Addressing the meeting on the occasion, Sathyanarayana asked the doctors and other officials to work with dedication while treating poor and middleclass patients who visit the hospital as every day about 2,000 outpatients come to the hospital from distant villages. Referring to recent infant's death in Hindupur Government Hospital, the Collector said that the incident was a matter of shame.

All surgeries should be performed under Arogya Sri in the hospital itself, he said and called for coordination between doctors and all agencies working in the hospital. There will be no paucity of funds for hospital development, he assured.

Local MLA Anantha Venkatarama Reddy advised the doctors not to refer every case from here to Kurnool hospital unless it is a dire necessity. The doctors should not leave the hospital during afternoons for lunch, but should remain in the hospital up to 4 pm, he said. He promised necessary help to the hospital from the government.

The meeting discussed the measures that have be taken to improve infrastructure facilities as 200 additional medical seats have been sanctioned to Anantapur Medical College. A multi speciality ward also came to discussion.

Discussed and increasing of bed strength by 1200 beds besides increasing the bed strength to 1,200. Earlier, the Collector and MLA inaugurated mammography equipment installed in the Pathology laboratory at the hospital.

Hospital Superintendent Rama Swamy Naik and Principal Neeraja Reddy were also present.
