Expedite POCSO cases, SP tells officials
Kurnool: Superintendent of Police Dr Fakkeerappa Kaginelli said that the police officials and public prosecutors should work in coordination to convict the culprits at the earliest in child abuse cases.
There is every need to speed up the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act ) cases which have been pending at sub-divisions, he said. He along with the Additional SP M Deepika Patil convened a meeting with Public Prosecutors and Police officials at Ved Vyas Auditorium here on Saturday.
Addressing at the meeting, Dr Fakkeerappa said that investigations in POCSO cases need to be expedited and see that the accused are punished. He said that he will pay Rs.10,000 from his salary to the police officer and public prosecutor if the accused is punished within 30 days of the case filed under POCSO.
He has also suggested the officials to ensure the summons are cleared which are pending at sub divisions. Officials have to take all necessary steps while recording statement from the victims. Even they have to convince the courts while filing police custody petitions. The victims have to be paid compensation through NALSA, he said.
Fakkeerappa also said that motor bikes should not be given to anyone who do not possess driving license. if the person is caught in drunk driving case, similar case will be filed on the person who has given the vehicle to the offender, the SP said.
