Get ready for Panchayat polls: Collector G Veera Pandiyan to officials

Kurnool: District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan directed the officials to get ready for the conduct of forthcoming Panchayat elections. He convened a meeting with the officials concerned on the upcoming local body elections at conference hall at Collector's office here on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting the Collector make suggestions about the initiatives and precautionary measures to be taken. He instructed the officials to keep informed about the number of polling stations pertaining to MPTC and ZPTCs. The notification is likely to be released in the first week of January.

He gave instructions to the officials to be prepared for the smooth conduct of Panchayat elections. He asked them to chalk out a plan based on the elections conducted earlier for Panchayats.

Pandiyan also directed the officials to ensure the arrangements at polling stations, materials, ballet papers and boxes. He asked them to extend him a list of ballet boxes necessary at every polling station. He ordered the SP to take necessary steps for the smooth conduct of Panchayat election.

The SP, Fakkeerappa said they will initiate strict security measures for the smooth conduct of local body elections and they will be in force from filing of nominations to the completion of election.

Joint Collector Patanshetty Ravi Subash, District Revenue Officer (DRO) Pullaiah, District Panchayat Officer (DPO), Prabhakar Rao, Panchayat Raj Superintending Engineer Subba Reddy and other officials were present.
