Retired Judge Justice Seshasayan Reddy Committee has given its report on the cause of the LG Polymers gas leakage accident in Visakhapatnam. The report said that the accident is of due to human error. The hearing was held at the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday. A five-member committee headed by NGT Seshasayana Reddy presented its report on the occasion.

In its report, the Seshasayana Reddy Committee said that the accident was caused by human error, security failure and company negligence. Senior counsel Siddhartha Lutra appealed on behalf of LG Polymers during the trial. It was argued that NGT did not have the authority to investigate the incident. On the other hand, the lawyer on behalf of EAS Sharma has argued that the company has been running without permission since 2001.

Strict action should be taken against those responsible for gas leakage. The NGT Tribunal after hearing the arguments haa asked the LG Polymers to respond the report in 24 hours if they have any objections. The NGT may issue further orders on Monday evening or Tuesday after studying the report.
