South Korea expert team to visit Visakhapatnam to inspect LG Polymers gas leak incident

It is known fact that the toxic gas release accident at Vishakhapatnam LG Polymers company, which have become sensational at the national level taking 12 lives and leaving hundreds of people injured. The government is investigating this and styrene monomer gas has been moved to the shipyard by tankers to evacuate it to South Korea since Tuesday night. Meanwhile, it is reported that an eight-member special delegation will be heading to India from South Korea to inquire about the accident and styrene gas leak. LG chemicals have made the statement to this extent.

The team will examine the causes of styrene monomer gas leakage and would address the people over the actions to be taken by the local people who are affected by the gas leak. The group will also meet with central government officials. Officials have identified 13,048 tonnes of styrene in the company. Styrene has been moved to the shipyard by tankers since Tuesday night. The rest of the styrene is all set to evacuated to South Korea by May 17 through Vessel Nord Magic.

With the huge loss to environment and people, the government of Andhra Pradesh has quick enough to contain the loss and took steps to reach out the people by compensating them depending on their severity of the effect. The government has disbursed Rupees One crore each to deceased families while Rs. 10 lakh to severely injured and 25,000 to affected people in villages and Rs. 10,000 to others.
