Immersion of idols passes off peacefully in Kurnool
Kurnool: The immersion of Ganesh idols was conducted on a grand manner at major towns across the district including Nandyal and Adoni on Friday. As a precautionary measure, about 1,000 security personnel, including special party teams, were deployed in Adoni town, to prevent untoward incidents.
Similarly, 600 policemen were deployed at Nandyal town considering the past incidents of group factionism. District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr K Fakkeerappa has instructed the police personnel to ensure smooth conduct of idol immersion. Following the orders of SP, the policemen have taken necessary steps for the immersion process. As many as 2,000 idols were installed at various places in these two towns.
Ganesh Mahotsava Central Committee Chairman K Kapileswaraiah, SP K Fakkeerappa and Adoni MLA Y Saiprasad Reddy launched the idol immersion at Rampuram pond in Adoni town and it continued up to late in the evening on Friday.
Similarly, Nandyal MP Pocha Bramananda Reddy and MLA Silpa Ravichandra Reddy were the chief guests on the occasion of idol immersion. The idols installed at Kurnool town would be immersed on Monday. Another idol which measures 65-feet height set up on the banks of Tungabhadra river would be immersed on the 12th day.
