Guntur: Guntur MP Galla Jayadev expressed satisfaction over progress of construction of All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Mangalagiri construction works. He said the construction of the building may be delayed by six months to a year.

The MP reviewed the progress of construction work of AIIMS, Mangalagiri with its deputy director Shramadeep Sinha at AIIMS Managalgiri campus on Tuesday. The deputy director explained progress of building construction through power point of presentation to Jayadev.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayadev said that hostel facility was ready for 100 students and that OPD block would be ready by November-end of this year. He said he would speak to Central and the state governments and solve some problems being faced during the construction, including the sand shortage which was affecting the construction activity in the entire state.

Observing that quality of robo sand (pulverized stone) was not sufficient for the construction of the AIIMS buildings, he said there was a need to solve water and road connectivity problems for the premises.

He said they had already requested the railway officials to sanction a halt for special trains for the convenience of the patients visiting the AIIMS, Mangalagiri. He felt that if AIIMS becomes operational, it would be useful to the people of the state and urged the state government to extend necessary cooperation for the development of infrastructure at AIIMS campus.
