Kakinada: The people of Kotha Pakalu and Pam Padipeta villages in Thondangi mandal requested the Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi to lift the criminal cases slapped on people protesting against Divi's company immediately.

They met the SP led by Jana Sena political affairs committee member Pantham Venkateswara Rao (Nanaji) on Tuesday and said that the High Court has given stay order to Divi's pharma unit not to take up any constructions in farmers' lands.

But the company violated the court order and started construction. However, the police did not book any cases against them. The people requested Asmi to book cases against the Divi's company management and give permission to the village people for doing their work on the respective lands.

They also demanded the police should lift Section 144 and Section 30 in their villages and bring normalcy in the area.

Nanaji said that the police should book case against Divi's management as per complaints lodged by the village people in Thondangi police station and should file FIR and arrest the management immediately.
