Minister reiterates government commitment on Veligonda
Ongole: Education Minister Dr Adimulapu Suresh participated as chief guest at the Jalasakthi Abhiyan programme held at the NS Agriculture College in Gobburu panchayat of Peddaraveedu mandal, organized by the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University and Krishi Vignan Kendra in Darsi on Tuesday.
The Markapur MLA Kunduru Nagarjuna Reddy presided over the program in which the minister said that the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government is committed for a corruption-free rule and warmed that severe action will be taken if they found any corruption activities, as observed earlier.
He said that Veligonda is a crucial project for the western area of the district and is the second important project for the state government after Polavaram. He said that they released Rs 40 crore to clear some of the dues to show their commitment.
He said that the chief minister is focused on the issues of the western area in the district and is ready to provide enough funds for the development of the area. He said that the government is establishing prices stabilization fund with Rs 2000 crores for the farmers, and introduced YSR Bharosa, special budget for agriculture, etc.
The district Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara explained the farmers about the various schemes being implemented by the government. He appreciated the ANGRAU and Darsi KVK for organizing such a wonderful program, where the farmers are finding it hard to continue in agriculture.
The Darsi KVK scientist Dr J Subbarao said that the district is receiving only 300mm for 800mm rainfall for the last three years and is high drought-hit district in the state. The farmers participated in the workshop explained their experiences in conservation of water.
The central government officer Dinesh Kumar, Giddalur MLA Anna Rambabu, ANGRAU scientist N Ramana, DWMA PD Seenareddy, college chairman Nadella Subrahmanyam and others also participated in the programme.
