Officials told to create employment guarantee works: Collector

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials to create employment to farm labourers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

He convened a videoconference with mandal and division-level officials from the Collectorate here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the agriculture activity slowed down in the district and farm workers were waiting for works.

It is the right time for the officials to create more employment to the farm labour in all the mandals. He said he would conduct teleconference every morning with MDOs, APOs, technical and field assistants and review the progress of employment guarantee works. He asked the officials to achieve high labour component and material component in the district.

The Collector also reviewed YSR Rytu Bharosa, identification of beneficiaries for distribution of Rs 10,000 aid to taxi, auto and cab drivers, creation of accommodation for setting up village/ ward secretariats, revision of electoral rolls, control of seasonal diseases, resolution of employees grievances and directed the officials on the measures to be taken.

Expressing concern over incidence of more typhoid and diarrhea cases compared with previous year, the District Collector ordered the officials to take steps for improved sanitation, chlorination of water, preventing leakage of pipelines and programmes to control mosquito menace.
