Ongole: Collector Pola Bhaskara appoints committee to monitor containment measures

Ongole: District Collector Pola Bhaskara on Saturday appointed a committee consisting of Special Officers to constantly monitor the activities to stem the spread of coronavirus infections.

The Collector was holding an emergency meeting in his chambers with the district officials and Medical and Health Department officials.

The Collector advised the officials to work with the commitment to contain the coronavirus. He directed the Joint Collector T S Chetan to constitute committees at the village, mandal, constituency, and district levels to ensure coordination among the officials in containing the virus.

There are 84 containment zones in the district. He directed the Health officials to swabs and samples for tests. He advised the officials to give priority to people with hypertension, diabetes, kidney, lung, and heart diseases and senior citizens in collecting samples.

The Collector said the number of cases is on the rise as persons from other States arriving in the district. He directed the officials to covert IIIT college into Covid-19 hospital if the cases increased.

He ordered officials to keep the low-risk patients in the RISE engineering college. He advised the officials to shift the staff working under Vaidyavidhana Parishad at Addanki, Chimakurthy, Darsi, Podili, Cumbum to Government General Hospital in Ongole to strengthen the manpower to provide better services to COVID and non-COVID patients.

The Collector announced the appointment of four officers to continuously monitor the containment measures. The officers included Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal, Deputy Collector Vasantha Babu, Medical Officers Tirumala Rao, Dr V Sravan Kumar.

He also announced appointment of two officers in Ongole to monitor the lab management to conduct the tests in order.

ZP CEO T Kailash Giriswar, CPO D Venkateswarlu, DMHO Dr. Padmavathi, OSD Chowdeswari, A P V V P coordinator Dr. Usharani, GGH Superintendent D Sriramulu, COVID-19 Control Nodal Officer John Richards and others were present.
