Ongole: Proposals worth 250 cr sent for GGH development

Ongole: The Prakasam district Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara announced that they are sending proposals worth Rs 250 crore for the development of the Government General Hospital in Ongole.

In his inspection of the GGH in Ongole on Monday, the collector said that following the instructions and suggestions of the medical and health minister Alla Kali Krishna in his recent tour, the APMIDC engineers have made proposals for the development of the GGH with Rs 250 crore budget. The collector said that proposals are made for the construction of super specialty block in 6.5 acres, a new building for nursing college in 2 acres, blocks for students, and various departments along with the purchase of equipment.

He said that the RIMS has 100 medical seats up to now and they are improving arrangements for the 150 seat capacity. He also discussed with the officials about plans on developing the hospital to the future needs of technology and patient requirements.

In his tour of the hospital with joint collector TS Chetan, the collector made several suggestions to the hospital officials for implementation immediately. He ordered for the arrangement of 400 more beds in the hospital as the COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the district.

He ordered them to allow movement of ordinary patients through south entrance while restricting the entry of Coronavirus infected patients through the north entrance. He ordered them to take action on the encroachers in the hospital immediately.

The GGH superintendent Dr D Sriramulu, RIMS principal Dr Rajamannar, deputy superintendent Dr Murali Krishna Reddy, APMIDC executive engineer Ravi, RMO Dr Venugopal Reddy, and others also accompanied the collector.
