Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subash Chandra Bose has underscored the need to impart training in various skills to the students of rural areas to help them compete with the students of urban areas.

Inaugurating a mega job mela at the campus of Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) here on Tuesday, he said the state government decided to start skill development centres for the benefit of students as well as unemployed youth. The students should learn skills along with their regular studies to obtain jobs.

Steps will be taken to develop the university on par with Andhra University by strengthening it in all fronts which is the largest university in the state. It is the duty of the faculty to provide quality teaching to the students by upgrading their teaching skills.

He advised university management to introduce need based courses to get jobs which is the need of the hour and said the management should run the university without giving scope for any criticism.

Rajanagaram MLA and Kapu Welfare Corporation chairman Jakkampudi Raja said the mega job mela was arranged in connection with the 66th jayanti of Former Minister Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao in association with Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao Foundation and Samhitha Educational Group.

The university will be developed as per the aspirations of the people of twin Godavari districts and asked the university management to run the university with commitment, transparency and accountability. AKNU vice-chancellor Prof P Suresh Varma, registrar Prof S Teki, representatives of various companies, staff and students were present.
