Rajamahendravaram: Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subash Chandra Bose has said that the state government has introduced village and ward volunteers system with an aim to serve people at their doorstep.

Addressing the volunteers at an awareness meeting held at Mandapeta on Sunday, he said the volunteers should play pivotal role in taking the government schemes to the people as well as to deliver goods in right time.

It is an opportunity to serve the needy and Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy kept his word and appointed one lakh above volunteers under the system. The Chief Minister will monitor the performance of volunteers, he said.

Any lapses in discharging duties will be treated seriously and stern action also be taken against them, he warned. The volunteers also bring awareness among the people about the welfare schemes.

Jaganmohan Reddy is a leader who stuck to his promises in the state and can do anything for the people, he averred. Amalapuram MP Chintha Anuradha and other leaders were present.
