Set up weighbridges at sand stock yards: Collector

Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has directed the officials to arrange weighbridges and CCTV cameras at sand stock yards in the district.

He particpated in a review meeting on sand reaches, stock points, arrears to be paid to boats men committees, sand collection from patta land and other issues here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the entry and exit points should arranged for weighbridges. For collecting sand, the dues paid to boats men committees should be credited to their bank accounts by Monday.

Applications should be received from pattadars for shifting the sand from those lands to the stock points. Sand collection should be started at five open reaches immediately after receding of flood.

Stock points should be arranged after identifying the sand availability in Tammileru, Jalleru, Bymeru, Errakalava and Pamuleru. He informed that out of six sand stock points, only four—Karugorumilli, Kapavaram, Somavarappadu and Ilakurru-- were in use at present. There is no supply of sand from Polavaram and Balliparru stock points.

Stating that there was difference in quantity of sand transported from sand reaches and the sand stored at stock points, the Collector directed the Revenue Divisional Officers concerned to submit reports on the same.
