Eluru: A group of residents of ST Colony at Lakkavaram village in Jangareddigudem has complained about the leaking roofs of their houses sanctioned by government 10 years ago at Spandana programme here.

Elaborating their tale of woes, the residents said that the houses are in dilapidated condition and ready to collapse any time. They wanted the government to replace the houses with new units and repair the drainage system in the colony.

A total of 402 petitions were received from people during Spandana programme organised at Collectorate here on Monday, according to DRO Prabhakara Rao. Rao asked the officials of the departments concerned to take action on the issues raised in the petitions and provide a qualitative solution to them.

He said people have been approaching Collectorate from across the district with a hope that their problem will be addressed. The solution provided by the officials should help them build confidence in the administration, the DRO said. The DRO monitored the programme as Collector R Muthyala Raju was on visit to flood-affected areas in the district.
